Conference Scholarships

Two scholarships are awarded annually for each Spring Institute and the Fall Conference. The Scholarships are for current governmental employees in the financial area who intend to continue to progress professionally in the field of government finance. If you are not currently a member of the GFOAT and receive a scholarship, the Scholarship/Fellowship Committee will also provide a one-year membership to GFOAT. GFOAT pays the conference registration fee, lodging, and travel expenses. Applications must be submitted to scholarship@gfoat.org.

Continuing Education Credit

All sessions do not require prerequisites.

• CPE/CEU Credit: You will earn an estimated total of 15 hours of CPE/CEU credit by attending the entire Spring Conference. GFOAT is a sponsor of continuing professional education with the Texas State Boards of Public Accountancy (TSBPA). State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit.
• CGFO Credit: You will earn an estimated total of 15 hours of credit by attending the entire Spring Conference. GFOAT has final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CGFO credit.

Conference App

Be sure to download the conference mobile app in advance. On the mobile app, you can view the schedule, make a personalized schedule, look up attendees and sponsors. Printed programs will not be available. An email will be sent to registrants before the conference with information on how to download the app.

Meeting Accommodations/Dietary Restrictions

Meeting accommodations requests, such as dietary restrictions, must be submitted to Lavern Gaines by March 27.

Attire

This conference is CASUAL, margarita-approved attire encouraged! Think comfy, relaxed, and ready to fiesta. Meeting rooms can sometimes be on the rocks, so be sure to bring a sweater or light jacket to stay cool-but-cozy while you sip in the knowledge.

Registered attendees are automatically included in the scheduled social event activities along with the educational sessions. The Golf Tournament is an additional fee.

*Membership applications must be submitted by March 17, and it will take three business days to process from the time of submission. You will not be able to register at the member rate until your membership application is fully processed. Visit our membership page for details.

GFOAT NON-SPONSORING CONFERENCE REGISTRATION
If you are a vendor attending the conference and are not a sponsor, you will be charged the following rate. This includes associate members of GFOAT. Unfortunately, we have had to increase the registration fee due to the rising cost of hosting a conference. This registration does not offer any sponsor benefits, exhibits, attendee lists, etc. If you would like to become a sponsor to help subsidize the cost, here is the link https://gfoat.org/sponsors/sponsorship-application/.

Just a reminder GFOAT Sponsorships are annual beginning July 1-June 30. Your new sponsorship for the fall conference will begin July 1, 2026.

Sponsor Registration

SPONSOR CONFERENCE REGISTRATION
To ensure accurate records and processing of the sponsor registrations your contact person will receive an email notifying you of your remaining complimentary registrations for the year, and if you are going to exhibit so you will have a table. That email will contain your registration link and housing information. Please be sure to complete this information immediately so that we can secure your spot at the conference. For sponsors looking to upgrade their level please notify Martie Simpson, no later than March 27. No upgrades will be honored after this date. We are excited about any of our new sponsors; however, payment must be received no later than March 27 for you to exhibit at the spring conference.  

We greatly value our current sponsors if you need additional registrations, we will honor the early bird member fee of $550.

Cancellation and Substitution Policy

If you are registered for the conference and/or purchased social event guest tickets and cannot attend, we encourage you to send a substitute. If you cannot send a substitute, a $100 cancellation fee will be assessed if written cancellation is received by March 27. No refunds will be issued after March 27.

Bruce Testa Golf Tournament

We’re excited to invite you to the Bruce Testa / GFOAT Semi-Annual Golf Tournament on April 21. GFOAT Golf outing will be held at Brackenridge Golf Course, located at 2315 Ave B, San Antonio, TX 78215. It is just North of downtown San Antonio and The Pearl off Broadway Blvd. The tournament will begin at 1:00 p.m. with a shotgun start.

Tournament Details:

• 4 Person Scramble – 1 PM Shotgun Start
• Bogey is your Friend – with 5 Closest to the Pin contest, Long Drive – Men and Women
• Entry fee: $90.00 per player with prizes for the 4 top teams and a prize for last team (DAL)
• 5 Par 3 contest
• Long Drive Contest for Men & Women

Important Housing Information

The GFOAT Spring 2026 Conference is being held during Fiesta San Antonio 2026, so you must plan accordingly. GFOAT has contracted rooms at two hotels to accommodate our members, so preplanning is pertinent for this event. GFOAT will not have the power to accommodate extended hotel stays or increase hotel rates if you are outside of our block of rooms.

Beware of Housing Poachers

Please be aware of housing poachers if contacted about booking hotel rooms for the 2026 GFOAT Spring Conference. The only GFOAT-endorsed hotels for this event is The Grand Hyatt and the Hyatt Regency Hotels.  Please note we are NOT working with any other companies to provide housing. If you receive any pirating emails or calls, please refer them to Lavern Gaines.
