Accepting credit cards costs municipalities more than most realize, and not all of that cost is fixed. This session pulls back the curtain on the payments ecosystem and shows where the true cost of card processing actually lies, and where vendor markups begin.
We’ll review interchange rates, pricing structures, set general guidelines for what a city should expect to pay to accept credit card payments, and show how to tell when a processor is charging more than it should. Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of what they really should be paying.
