General Information

Conference Scholarships

Two scholarships are awarded annually for each Spring Institute and the Fall Conference. The Scholarships are for current governmental employees in the financial area who intend to continue to progress professionally in the field of government finance. If you are not currently a member of the GFOAT and receive a scholarship, the Scholarship/Fellowship Committee will also provide a one-year membership to GFOAT.  GFOAT pays the conference registration fee, lodging, and travel expenses. Applications must be submitted by October 1 to scholarship@gfoat.org.

Continuing Education Credit

All sessions do not require prerequisites.

  • CPE Credit: You will earn 14 hours of CPE credit by attending the entire Fall Conference. GFOAT is a sponsor of continuing professional education with the Texas State Boards of Public Accountancy (TSBPA). State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit.
  • CGFO Credit: You will earn 14 hours of CPE credit by attending the entire Fall Conference. GFOAT has final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CGFO credit.

Conference App

Be sure to download the conference mobile app ahead of time. On the mobile app, you can view the schedule, make a personalized schedule, look up attendees and sponsors. Use the instructions below to download the app before leaving for the conference. Printed programs will not be available.

  • Once downloaded, open the app and search for “GFOAT Fall Conference” and download.
  • To log in, enter the first and last name and email address that you used during registration

Meeting Accommodations/Dietary Restrictions

Meeting accommodations requests such as dietary restrictions must be submitted to Lavern Gaines by October 11.

Attire

The conference attire is CASUAL so please plan for comfort. Be sure to bring a sweater or jacket to the sessions, in the event the meeting rooms are cold.

Bruce Test Semi-Annual Golf Outing

Kissing Tree Golf Club, 201 Kissing Tree Lane • San Marcos, TX
Kissing Tree Golf Course (KTGC) is a semi-private 18-hole golf course set on the banks of the Texas Hill Country. The course opened in October 2018 and is managed by the world-renowned golf industry leader, Troon Golf. Designed by local Texan, Gary Stephenson, KTGC serves as an extension of the natural landscape – blending grades of edges, slopes, and contours of the landscape into its striped fairways and angulated greens. Each hole provides an avenue of play with varied angles that allow golfers of any skill level to enjoy the game and feel challenged.

REGISTRATION

The pre-conference registration fee is included with your full conference registration. Registered attendees must choose a pre-conference option during the registration process to be admitted into the session. Registered attendees are automatically included in the evening Wednesday social event. Adult guest of registered attendees must pay the $100 guest ticket fee.

Sponsor Registration
Please be sure to register online to secure your spot at the conference. Please choose the “sponsor comp” option to use your complimentary registration benefits. The sponsor table set up is Wednesday, October 29, at 2:00 p.m. Please notify Martie Simpson by October 15 if you plan to use your table.

Cancellation and Substitution Policy

If you are registered for the conference and/or purchased social event guest tickets and cannot attend, we encourage you to send a substitute. If you cannot send a substitute, a $100 cancellation fee will be assessed if written cancellation is not received by October 11. No refunds will be issued after October 11.

HOTEL

Hotel Accommodations

The Embassy Suites by Hilton San Marcos Hotel Conference Center is located at 1001 E McCarty Ln, San Marcos, TX 78666. The hotel has extended a $189 per night group rate based on single/double occupancy for dates of October 30-31.

Please book your room. Do not delay as the block can sell out prior to the deadline and rooms are limited.

Beware of Housing Poachers

Please be aware of housing poachers if contacted about booking hotel rooms for the 2024 GFOAT Fall Conference. The only GFOAT-endorsed hotel for this event is The Embassy Suites by Hilton San Marcos Hotel Conference Center. Please note we are NOT working with any other companies to provide housing. If you receive any pirating emails or calls, please refer them to Lavern Gaines.
